It's Love All Over Again

About 7 years ago, we purchased (after much pleading, begging, promising, etc) and fell in love with our first Dyson vacuum.

As most of you know, I make fun of the hubs for being a total cheapo (when in reality, he is the only reason we don't live in a cardboard box). We had just bought a crappy vacuum that lasted about 6 months and I was annoyed....

I pleaded my case to the hubs, we have 3 dogs and 4 cats... WE NEED THIS VACUUM!!!!! To my surpised, I actually got it (yes, I am aware that it's very sad when you beg and get excited over a vacuum cleaner)!

I must say that it was probably the best $400 we have ever spent. Like I said, it's about 7 years old now and I still use it about 5 times a week (being that we have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 toddlers).

Well the last few months I have noticed the loss of suction on the tile... I cleaned all the tubes out looking for blockages, I cleaned the brush on the bottom, yet I couldn't figure out what the problem was.... Today I was super annoyed at my beloved vacuum when it didn't even pick up a cheerio off the tile.

I went to my safe place (GOOGLE). I googled my problem and to my surprise, it seemed that all I needed to do was wash out the filter (which I had totally forgotten about over the years). I washed it out and realized that in the mesh part on the other side of the filter, was full of crap! I went to one of my other favorite websites (LOWES.COM) and found a replacement filter for $17.00. I called the hubs on his way home and asked him to pick one up.

Me- "Can you pick up a filter for the vacuum? I think that is why it hasn't been working very well and the house is gross!"

Hubs- "How much is it?" (Told you he was a cheapo!)

Me- "$17"

Hubs- "SEVENTEEEEN DOLLARS??????"  (See, I told you! You didn't believe me did you?)

Me- "Yes! That is better than buying a new vacuum right?"

Hubs- "Bye" *click*

Well as soon as he came home I asked him to take the kids out front and put them in the swing so I could get the laundry put away and fix the vacuum. I put the new filter in and...... wait for it....... It was awesome! It worked like I forgot it could work! I vacuumed with a giant nerdy smile on my face and a spring in my step!!! True hapiness for $17....

Got to go, I must find something else to vacuum! Maybe I'll ask the neighbors!

  4. So funny....that happened to us about a month ago. I couldn't figure out why my dyson (my baby) wasn't picking anything up. Roger figured out the filter issue and we were back in business. Dyson's rock!!!!
