Meet Maisy Mae

Late on a Wednesday night back in February, we received a desperate call from a shelter worker begging us to come pick up a shelter favorite. She was a very ill senior bloodhound who was loved by everyone in the shelter, but her time was up. She was willing to sneak her out to us the next morning if we would come get her.

Our rescue board members Mike and Marcie Campbell were at the shelter bright and early the next morning to pick up the sick old girl.

She was a mess. She had been used for FORCED breeding and lived her whole life in a kennel. You can tell that she tried her hardest to escape her awful life because her teeth had been broken from trying to chew her way out of her kennel. Her owner passed away and the rest of the family decided that she wasn't worth anything to them since she was to old to use and abuse (breed), so they dumped her off at a high kill shelter.

Poor Maisy Mae had 9 large tumors hanging off of her body. Our vet determined that they were aggressive and needed to be removed. The sweet old girl survived her 3 surgeries and went to her loving foster home.

Now our girl needs our help again. She now has fluid in her lungs and belly, yet is in great spirits! This girl truly has the will to live and as long as she is willing, we will do everything in our power to help her! Our vet thinks that she has a fighting chance, so please help Maisy Mae get the medical care that she needs and deserves.

The cost is $1500 but we only need your help with $500. Every $1.00 helps. Please don't pass her by, she is so amazing and deserves this chance.

Our rescue information- please feel free to check us out! I would never donate to a fund that I didn't educate myself about first.

  3. OMG! You had me with the SAD face-of course I had to donate! Unfortunately this story is all to common-I wish people would think twice about what is REALLY going to happen to that dog or cat they "dump" at the shelter.

  7. She is too cute! I love the droopy eyelids! About the removal of the stubbed toenail...at first they thought they were gonna have to remove Riley's but then decided it could probably just grow out as long as she doesn't injure it any more. But I'm with you...how many dogs stub their toes?? Riley mashed hers in with her big plastic ball in the backyard, so I guess she sort of stubbed hers too.

  9. UPDATE on Maisy Mae....

Tests came back inconclusive so we need to watch her... With her symptoms we think it's either cancer or heart failure... We'll watch her and see... Thank you everyone for your good thoughts and donations!
