I Dedicate This Post To My Very Best Friend

Let me tell you about my very best friend... We have been best friends since we took typing together in 8th grade almost 19 years ago (whoa, when did we get this old?). I adore him and would do almost (and I say almost only because I know his dirty mind) anything in the world for him! Over the past 19 years we have never lived more than 15 minutes away from each other and I treasure our un-conventional friendship. By un-conventional, I mean we don't talk on the phone everyday, we don't go shopping together, we don't hug all day long, etc... I think it's very special that a guy and a girl can be best friends for so long, have spouses, kids, lives, and carry on that friendship.

1998?

We are complete opposites in so many ways...

  • He's a male and I am not
  • He does not read my blog *ahem*
  • He's extremely anal about everything... and I am only anal about certain things (teehee).
  • He puts on a very respected firefighter uniform for work... I am covered in tattoos and people hide their children from me.
  • He views himself as a nerd (which he is totally not), and I see myself as kind of a big deal (which I am totally not).
  • He does not have any pets and I have a house-full.
  • He absolutely hates when people use "LOL" and I use it on a daily basis.

Now for the things that we have in common....

  • We both love the candy Nerds
  • We both love the Scream movie Trilogy and used to have movie marathons
  • We both love to hike
  • We love hide and seek in the dark outside
  • We both love our family
  • Both of our parents are still married
  • We have both seen each other's fathers in their underwear (ewwww)
  • We both love spending summers at the river
  • We both bite our nails

Jet skiing back in the day

Some of the things that I adore most about Ray are...

  • He is the most responsible person I know.
  • He would do anything for anyone he cares about
  • He has always loved and respected his parents (even back when we were in Jr. High and nobody liked their parents)
  • He's modest (which means he'll probably hate this blog post =)
  • He picked a wife who not only understood our odd friendship, but became one of my great friends.

The old days when I worked at Vans Shoes. Ray on the right and his twin Derek on the left.

Now whether you may think some of these things are important or un-important to a friendship... Whatever! They work!!! Today I am honoring my BFF of 19 years because it's his birthday!!!! I love you bestie!!! Thank you for being the best friend ever! HAPPY 32ND BIRTHDAY!!! and yes Happy Birthday to you too Derek (the twin) =)

**** Oh and I love that our girls are going to carry on the BFF tradition...
