I Have A Sickness

... and I don't know what to do about it!!!! I mean, I know there is a serious economy problem and my hubs has put me on a serious (and I mean serious) allowance... but I can't stop myself... I have resorted to selling all of my old designer handbags on Ebay to support my habit.

Well let me start at the beginning... I think it started around Fall 2009. Some of the girls in my Mom's Group/Relay For Life Group tricked me. Plain and simple, they totally took advantage of my good nature. I trusted them and they caught me totally off guard and sucked me in to their little cult.

First they lured me in with talk of getting out of the house for a few hours here and there with good company and yummy food...

Next, a few trips to the craft store...

Now.... I have a whole closet dedicated to SCRAPBOOKING!!!! Yes that's right... I said scrapbooking. I thought that was a hobby for older people like my mom (sorry mom) kind of like a quilting group.

Boy was I wrong. Over the next few months I jumped in head first. By that Christmas, I had more paper, stickers, cutting tools, adhesive and storage containers than I knew what to do with.

Everytime the hubs told me that my new hobby was too expensive, I would come back with "I am scrapbooking our families memories, how can you put a price on that?!?!?!"

After it started getting a little ridiculous, he put his foot down and made me start using my allowance on my scrapbooking stuff. I thought, well I'll show him! I'll sell all my designer bags that he bought me that are just collecting dust in the closet. Well now I am running out of handbags... I may have to start harvesting my own organs and selling them on the black market. I joke!!!! (Or do I?  We do have doubles of quite a few organs. Just sayin')

Just when I thought my habit couldn't get any worse, I met a girl who used to own a Scrapbook store... She introduced to to new paper lines, new companies, basically knowing all the upcoming and super cool new stuff... So I went from shopping for my paper at the local craft stores to buying my paper on pre-sale before the new upcoming cool paper line has even come out. I feel like some kind of super elite Scrapbook Socialite or something.

So now that boxes are being delivered by UPS about 3 times a week, the hubs is getting a little suspicious about what is going on here at home while he works his butt off at work to support his family. Shhhh!!! Keep it on the down low! Thanks!!!!

Do any of you have a serious sickness like this?????

Here are a couple of examples of pages that I love... These are not mine but some that I got off of Two Peas In A Bucket as inspiration for some future projects for myself.

  1. Wow, you are really good! I have done a few vacation picture scrapbooks, but nothing like that. Those are great and the cool thing is that they can be handed down to the next generation!

  2. Beth here! I know just what you mean! I have a studio full of all of my addictions! My husband gave up on me years ago. One of them IS scrapbooking. Isn't it a blast! Really your hubby shouldn't be upset....it could be something A LOT worse than scarpbooking....I'm just sayin'....ha ha!

  5. I used to love to scrapbook! I haven't scrap booked in a few years though. Not since I went to Disney World in like 2008 I think.

I wouldn't say I had an addiction or anything but the church we used to go to would have a scrap book night one or two Fridays a month and that was fun. I was always the youngest person there though...not that I'm saying you're a granny for scrap booking because I've done it too!

Now you might have inspired me to do some scrap booking!

  6. My "SICKNESS" is with shopping at the Dollar Tree...probably not as dangerous as scrapbooking, but still dangerous because it is very easy to rationalize buying things for a dollar...however when my weekly trips turned into monthly bills of $100 my husband put his foot down and put me on an allowance too!
