My New Love- And It Has Nothing To Do With Hot Guys or Dogs.

Back in January, I noticed that my fellow scrapbooker/blogger AllyCakes was doing this super cool project called 52 Weeks of Instax started by The Dainty Squid... and I was instantly smitten. I needed to be a part of this. The problem was that I just got a new point and shoot camera for Christmas from my hubs and kids... how was I going to ask for the Fuji Instax Mini Camera less than a month later without sounding like a giant jerk!? Well I could ask for it from Valentine's Day... The problem with this was going to be that I would be way behind on my 52 week project... Oh well... I had to have this camera... It is basically a poloroid camera that prints out credit card size photos... As a scrapbooker, this is my favorite size photo to scrapbook! You can fit so many on a page!!!!! What is also super cool about these... you have a ledge of white on the bottom where you can write notes... so I can journal a little bit of info on there.

So I sent my hubby an email with a link to the camera telling him that this is what I would really like for Valentine's Day. Since the film gets kind of expensive, you can find a package deal on Amazon with the camera, case, and film for a very reasonable price. I thought I was giving the hubs more than enough time (over a month) to order my gift and get it here... I was also doing him a favor by letting him know exactly what I wanted so he didn't have to sit and wonder what to get me like a lot of husbands have to do.

About a week before, I brought up the camera... He said he hadn't ordered it... "You know I am a procrastinator" he said. To which I replied, "well you have a week, so get on it please!"

Valentine's Day came and went... No camera. I kept thinking, I would find it in a strange place like on my pillow, or in the bathroom because he was trying to surprise me... nope... he hadn't ordered it. After 13 years together, he still hadn't learned... He stopped at the grocery store on the way home from work and filled out my card in the driveway... The seal was still damp when he put my card on the counter. I was hurt! I was so disappointed that I actually skipped my favorite TV shows AND left the sink full of dishes (if you know me, you know that I don't do that!), went upstairs, read my book and went to sleep.

He must of known how disappointed I was and seen the sink full of dirty dishes and realized he was in big trouble because I woke up to an email confirmation from Amazon that my camera had been ordered.

Now of course I am still hurt that he doesn't know me better after 13 years but I am happy that my camera is finally here!!!!

I love it soooo much!

Since I am so behind on the 52 week project... I think I will just do a Weeks of Summer Project with the kids and make a book for each of them.

Anyway, here are the first pictures that I took in the car when I opened up the camera... Here is an example of the size photos that the camera takes.

  1. Beth here! Sorry you got your feelings hurt. Mike and I have been married for going on 23 years and have come to a good arrangement. We write each other a letter on holidays. It's atleast a personal thing. Then we have a certain $ amount that is ours to do with as we wish. We figure it out at the beginning of the year so we know how much we need to save for the holidays. We can keep it, spend it, doesn't matter -- it is ours and only ours. Has worked great -- but your husband would still have to remember to write the letter....ha ha. Just my two cents worth.... Love your new camera!

  2. That is such a cool camera! Your husband sounds a lot like my sister's husband. I don't think they even got each other anything for Valentine's day this year...oh wait...they bought a dog door. How romantic...!

  4. David and I also set ground rules when we got married so there was no let down. Valentines day - card only! Anniversary - card and dinner. And we've never been let down. We save the presents for birthdays, mothers day, Fathers day and Christmas. But that's not what I really wanted to say. You need to do a 52 week project. I did 52 weeks with my boys. I started mid year and finished shortly after we moved in here. It's great...especially when they are young. You need to do it. I've actually been thinking about doing it again!! Or a 12 months with dad!!!
