I Am A... Rescue Broker?

A few weeks ago, a friend wrote me asking if I could help find his father a dog. He is retired, recently had a kidney transplant and was looking for a companion to take walks with.

Of course I would help! I love this kind of thing! I knew that none of the dogs that we have in our rescue matched his requirements/needs so I went elsewhere to search for this lucky dog.

My friend who we'll call Mr. Firefighter told me that he thought his father was looking for a medium sized dog, it didn't matter what breed, didn't matter if it was male or female, just that it needed to be good with children since he has grandchildren that come over to visit often.

I searched through zillions of medium sized dogs looking for what I thought would be the best fit for Mr. Firefighter's father.

I would email Mr. Firefighter a bunch to search through and see what his father liked or disliked about those particular dogs.

We finally narrowed it down to about 3 dogs with 2 different rescues and 1 shelter.

In the end, we all agreed on the same dog.

Mr. Firefighter's father filled out an application and sent it in... The rescue contacted us back to let us know that they loved the application and thought that this may be the perfect match. The foster mom brought the dog down to San Diego to meet Mr. Firefighter's father.

I am happy to report that it WAS a match!

Meet Mr. Firefighter's father and his new companion Moses (he came with the name).

Moses is a 3 year old Affenpinscher mix who came from Hope 4 Animals (a rescue we highly support). Now Moses has a forever home with a great new dad! Congrats to both of you two!

Now I am off to find my mother in law and another family friend a new furry family member to call their own!
