My 'So Alone' Rant

I am starting to feel very alone...

Alone in the fact, that I feel I may be one of a handful of people who believes in disciplining my child.

Now anyone who knows me knows that it doesn't take much to set me off... I admit, I have a very short fuse (my father says that I am always looking for a fight, but I swear I'm not) and don't have patience for much but seriously?!?!?!

Question...

If your 5/6 year old child was in the dugout climbing on the fences and swinging a bat around (near other kids), would you say something or would you just act as if your child's baseball game is free time for you to not pay attention to them?

When I go to my child's game, I am there to watch them... I want to be a part of everything my kids do (which is why I have always been Team Mom for Boog's teams). Well this is the first season that I am not Team Mom and I cannot stand to watch the utter chaos!

Today I got up out of my chair and walked in to the dugout in the middle of the game to tell the kids to put their bats down until it was time for them to hit. I also told them to sit on the bench and to cheer for their team mates.

Apparently one father didn't appreciate me doing this and came over and said something snotty to me.

My first reaction was OBVIOUSLY to take him out in the parking lot after the game and then run him over with my car (isn't that what any normal mother would do?) but I just watched in shock as he walked off...

Now.... I feel that if you want a say in anything, then you need to get off of your lazy butt and volunteer to help out in someway. Be involved some how! My husband is an assistant coach, and I am also involved... What has this father ever done? Nothing!!! So sit down and shut your face!!!! Thank you!

I am so shocked in how many kids are so horribly behaved and the parents are too busy chatting with each other or grading papers (a few of the parents are teachers) to even notice their kids knocking their team mates helmets off, screaming, swinging bats, etc... Why do you have children if you don't care to teach them how to act properly????? Aren't parents supposed to raise their children and teach them right from wrong?

I am just so frustrated!!! I just am starting to feel that I am one of the only people who believes in discipline any more. It seems that parents care more about themselves than their children. UGHHHH!!!!

Sunday... Rainy Sunday....

Well today has been a waste of a day... It's icky outside and we are stuck inside... Good thing we live in Southern California because I wouldn't last anywhere that had REAL rain.

We have done nothing but lounge around all day...

Well I did get started on my Easter mantle and a few Subway Art prints done for some friends, but other than that... NADA

Here are the kids getting some last minute jumps in before the rain comes...

even the cat was feeling lazy... oh wait, she's always like this!

we clearly have cabin fever!!! we've gone mad!

Starting to bust out the Easter stuff...

I think I need to make a banner and get some fake grass!

Love the subway art... This is not mine but a free download that I got from Eighteen25. If you haven't been to her blog... you need to NOW~ She's pretty much... THE BOMB!!! I want to be like her.... and the Pioneer Woman... oh and my friend Amy (Amy doesn't have a blog because she is too busy being wonder woman)!!!! A combo would be great!!!

Anyway... enjoy the very last bit of your weekend!!!

I'm gonna go and stomp around in rain puddles! Just kidding, I already have a cold, probably shouldn't try and catch pneumonia!

Boogie Boogie Boo

So I've been going back and forth on whether I should write this... but I decided that this is my random ramblings so why not.

Yesterday at lunch,  I got a call from Boogie's teacher letting me know that she thinks that Boogie may need her eyes checked. She passed the school vision test a few months back so we never worried about it... Well I came home and asked around for my friends to recommend a local pediatric optometrist. That same day at 2pm we were in the optometry office getting Boogs' eyes checked (I'm totally not an alarmist).

Now this is where I struggled on whether I should write this or not... I am so very lucky to have healthy children when so many are not so fortunate! So I felt like it was stupid to get upset about my child may or may not needing glasses. But as a mother, no matter how small the issue, it's very sad to think that something may be wrong with your child.

Let me tell you, it was heartbreaking to see my little girl struggle with a line of letters and get scared because she could not see them. But as a parent, we remain strong for our littles to let them know that they will be okay!

So it turns out that she has an astigmatism in her right eye. Which she most likely got from her father who has one in his left eye. As of right now, she only needs to wear glasses to school and when she does her reading and homework at home.

Luckily Boogs is at an age where she is super excited for getting her glasses! She looks at it like a cool new hair bow or a necklace... Just another super cool accessory! and let me tell you that I am very thankful for that. You never want your child to feel "different".

Here is Boogs trying on  glasses...

and here are the glasses that we picked...

She cannot wait to pick them up next week!!!!
