Dear Parents,
Yesterday a parent reported seeing saw a large pack of coyotes at xxxxx and xxxxx at 11:10 as she dropped her kindergartener off at school. Please be aware that open land around our school and throughout xxxxxxx County is home to mountain lions, coyotes, raccoons, snakes and other wildlife.
Sightings of wild animals are rare and wild animals generally avoid human contact. However, please instruct your children that if they see or encounter a wild animal, they should never try to approach or feed it. Experts advise staying calm, holding your position or backing away slowly.

Hahaha.... Does anyone else get stuff like this?!?!! I mean really?!?!?! The funny thing is I was just commenting on KB's blog over at Romping and Rolling in the Rockies yesterday whining about how I live in a track house neighborhood and how I wished I lived out in the mountains on some land where I could see more than just an occasional possum, and now I am getting warning emails about how my Kindergardner needs to watch out for hungry coyotes?!?!?!?! HOLY CRAP!!!!!
Anyway, that is all I have for today...

We have critters all over the place here....coyotes, wolves, bears etc. No notices sent out here....
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes. We are city dogs! Our dad used to live in Michigan when he was a little tyke. A cyote followed him to school every day. Scary.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if city coyotes behave differently from rural ones... Ours always run away when they see us, although I wouldn't allow a young child to hike our trails alone.
